- Registered Membership Sites: When you click "I have benefits thanks to this site", the domain is sent to our server and added to the global benefits database.
How We Use Your Data
- Local Processing: Your browser checks if the current website matches any of your registered memberships or global discount destinations.
- Discount Detection: The extension alerts you when you visit a site where benefits are available.
- Community Database: When you register a new membership site, only the domain name is shared to help other users discover benefits.
Data Storage
- Local Storage: All your preferences, registered memberships, and notification settings are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's Storage API.
- Global Database: Our server stores only domain names (e.g., "example.com") without any personal information.
- We Do NOT Store: Browsing history, personal information, passwords, or any data that can identify you.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. The only data shared is:
- Domain names of membership sites you explicitly register (e.g., "university.edu")
- This data is anonymous and helps build the community database
Third-Party Services
MyBenefits connects to our API server at komparamus.com to:
- Retrieve the list of registered origin and destination domains
- Register new membership sites when requested by users
- No tracking, analytics, or advertising services are used
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access: All your data is stored locally in your browser and accessible through Chrome's extension storage.
- Deletion: You can remove registered memberships at any time using the "Remove from my origins" option.
- Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all locally stored data immediately.
Security
We implement security measures to protect your data:
- All communications with our server use HTTPS encryption
- Local storage is protected by Chrome's security model
- Minimal data collection reduces exposure risk
